This new hotel restaurant in the Karen area of Nairobi has many features. The roof structure, all made with sustainable wood, is built using laminated beams and purlins to create a vaulted ceiling. The walls are made from local stone in a zero joint pattern, so each piece of finished stone is unique. The centerpiece of the restaurant is a blue stone fireplace, nearly 2 meters in height, and cut by hand from massive pieces of stone specially ordered from the stone quarry. The restaurant floor is made a mix of mazeras stone and a cream colored travertine. Lanterns from Morocco illuminate the restaurant at night with warm light LED bulbs. The commercial kitchen serving the restaurant is made from stainless steel to a Western standard.
